As part of our Renovation and Construction project, Dawn Solar Systems Inc. (DSSI) has begun a turnkey installation of a “state of the art” Renewable Energy System ™. Installation of the solar thermal array, tank, pump and controls began on August 24. This project will provide a lifetime renewable energy system, reduce energy costs, provide current and future generations with improved energy security and dramatically reduce our carbon footprint. The 1,500 square foot Dawn Solar Thermal System will collect solar heat from beneath the roof area. A non-toxic propylene glycol antifreeze solution will circulate under the hot roof and move energy between the Dawn Solar collection system and the heat exchanger(s) within the solar storage tank. Operation of the solar collection circulator(s) will be controlled by solar differential controls that monitor the temperature difference between the collector and the bottom of the solar storage tank. The 1,200 square feet of metal roof coverage over the solar thermal system is eligible for federal incentives as part of the solar thermal system.
A Domestic Water Heating system will also be installed. A hot water is drawn from the auxiliary water heater, water replacing it will be drawn from the dedicated hot water heat exchanger in the solar storage (preheat) tank, thereby eliminating or reducing the use of fossil fuels, bio-fuels or electricity.
